President: Jasmine L. Leigh is the President of Emerging Young Ladies Foundation. She is an active peer mentor and volunteer. Jasmine has an unyielding desire to fulfill her destiny on earth as it is in heaven. One of the scriptures that keep her conscious of God’s original plan for her life is Deuteronomy 30:9, “Then the LORD your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands.” She has many gifts and talents and has an active love for youth. She also has several ministry gifts that are often revealed through the arts: she loves dance, mime, drama and sign language.
Education is an earnest passion in her life. Jasmine is an English doctorial student at Morgan State University. Her scholarly interests include African-American literature and Women’s Studies. She earned her M.A. in Liberal Studies with a concentration English Literature at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, in May 2005. In May 2002, she received a B.A. from Morgan State University with a major in English and a concentration in Creative Writing. In 2002, she was blessed to pursue her teaching career within the Baltimore City School System, as a high school English teacher. To date, she has been a Lecturer at Coppin State University since August 2005. She sincerely knows that God is not through with her yet.
Treasurer and Peer Mentor: Keysha Hill is the mother of two school age children; therefore, she understands the peer pressures and difficulties that youth and young adults face in society, as she was born and raised in Baltimore City. Feeling the pull toward the youth and especially young ladies, Keysha joined Emerging Young Ladies in 2001 as the treasurer and peer mentor.
She is studying Business Management at the Baltimore City Community College, and her knowledge of finance and money management has truly taught the Emerging Young Ladies the value of a dollar.
Peer Mentor: Latoya Ferrell is the youth and young adult event coordinator and the youth dance leader at Higher Dimensions Christian Center, in Baltimore MD. She has always enjoyed working with youth and hopes to pass her zeal for God onto young ladies throughout the Baltimore Metropolitan area. Latoya joined Emerging Young Ladies (EYL) in 2004, as a peer mentor and active volunteer. She graciously offers her time and talent in order to help fulfill EYL’s mission.
Currently, Latoya is attending The Community College of Baltimore, and she desires to receive an A.A. in Psychology. She also plans to transfer to the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in the Fall of 2009. Housing many other talents and gifts, Latoya is the sole proprietor of L. Ferrell Events Inc., which is a full service event planning company. She has received several awards for her dedication and hard work.
Parental Advisor: Lisa Sladden-Thompson is the mother of three girls. As Lisa acknowledges the pressures, temptations and obstacles that come up against young girls, she earnestly intercedes and stands in the gap for the Emerging Young Ladies. She is convinced that there is a genius in every child and desires to help every Emerging Young Lady realize their individual gifts and purpose in life.
Lisa holds a Bachelor's Degree in Management and has extensive experience in the hospitality industry. She incorporates her knowledge of hospitality, etiquette and social graces into the workshops sponsored by EYL.
